The sale makes it possible for Fortes Energy Systems to maintain continuity and quality in the fast-growing market of District Energy Networks and, together with BDR Thermea Benelux (www.bdrthermeagroup.com), to play a crucial role in the energy transition through the Remeha brand.
Dutch-headquartered Fortes Energy Systems (www.fortes-es.nl) is an internationally active specialist in collective heat and cold networks for residential, utility and industrial use. Its solutions combine a comfortable indoor climate, high hot water comfort, optimal system efficiency and low energy consumption.
Fortes Energy Systems’ product portfolio includes heat interface units, delivery stations for heat and cold distribution systems, and distributors for underfloor heating and cooling. Headquartered in The Netherlands, the company has 68 employees. Its solutions are sold in The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, the United Kingdom and Denmark. Fortes Energy Systems will continue to operate under its own name.Heat networks are among the most cost-effective ways of reducing carbon emissions from heating, benefiting from economies of scale and taking advantage of local waste heat opportunities.
Heat networks will play a key role in decarbonising heating, alongside heat pumps and hybrids. Hybrids can reduce carbon emissions quickly in less-insulated existing buildings, reducing gas use by up to 70%. In time, the remaining gas use can be cut by using renewable gases, such as green hydrogen“.
The world needs a mix of technologies if we are to successfully decarbonise heating. In fact, at BDR Thermea we often speak about 4H: heat pumps, hybrids, hydrogen and heat networks. Bringing Fortes Energy Systems into BDR Thermea means we can offer the full range of options to help accelerate the energy transition for heating,” says Bertrand Schmitt, CEO of BDR Thermea Group.
